Which bank is this IBAN from? — Identify the institution instantly

Enter a valid IBAN and get the institution name, BIC (when available) and country.

Bank identification from IBAN

This tool shows which bank an IBAN maps to based on the institution code embedded in the number (and our data sources). It is free and needs no registration.

Type or paste the IBAN in the field and click the button to see the result.

To also verify that the IBAN is valid (checksum and format), use the full IBAN validator.

How do we infer the bank from an IBAN?

Every IBAN contains a country code and a national account number (BBAN). In many countries the first digits of the BBAN identify the financial institution. We normalise and validate the IBAN and look that code up in our database and related sources.

That is why only the IBAN itself is required — no sign-in and no file upload.

Limitations

A structurally valid result does not guarantee that the account exists or is active. The tool is not a substitute for confirmation with your bank.
